6 Reasons Why Children’s Ski Schools are Worth Every Penny!
One more school? C’mon! I already spend 60 dollars a day…
It’s the “you get what you pay for” debate, and I’m sure we’ve all heard it before. In fact, at some level, most of us have been on both sides of this particular fence. Like many other sports/hobbies, skiing is expensive enough as it is without having to pay for additional instruction on the side. But, at the same time, how can you put a price tag on your child’s safety and future success?
I’m a constant learner, and for me, it’s a no-brainer to spend the extra dough for ski school. But does it worth it? Do we really need to spend money on ski classes? Are children’s ski schools really worth every penny? The answer is yes, they are.
Ski schools are a fantastic way to introduce your child – at a young age – to the sport of skiing and give them a head start. However, if you were to take your child to the mountain and try and teach them yourself, it would be a slow and painful process.
Here are my six personal reasons (and one bonus one) you should enroll your child in a ski school, especially when your kids have just started skiing.
Ski Schools Help Keep Your Child Safe While Skiing
The first reason is safety! skiing is not like riding a bicycle where you can just hop on and do it. Even on a bike, the cost of mistakes is not as high as in skiing. However, skiing is a sport that takes years to learn correctly, and the risks of injury are high if you don’t have the proper instruction. Children’s ski schools help decrease these risks by providing a safe and controlled learning environment.
Also, these lessons usually take place on a very gentle beginner slope. They are less likely to collide with someone flying all over the place and not paying attention.
Ski Instructors Are Familiar With the Mountain and Its Conditions
This is related to safety as well. Ski instructors are familiar with the mountain and know how to mitigate or avoid dangerous risks. In addition, they can help you to navigate through areas where it’s best for your child to stay away from until things improve or if they need time to get used to skiing.
Even if you spend several seasons on the same mountain, usually, you’re still far behind the ski instructor’s expertise as they know what’s going on around the hill. Unless you’re a world ski champion, there is no way that you can compete with their knowledge.
But, this doesn’t mean that you should blindly trust the instructor and the school. Do your own research, ask around, and see if the school is a reputable one before you enroll your child with them!
Ski Lessons Help Your Child Build Confidence
This is why I believe ski schools are worth every penny. Ski instructors know how to teach skiing, and they have the experience to help your child learn faster and ski better. Most of the time, children learn best when they are having fun. Ski schools make skiing fun, and this is the perfect way to help your child learn while building self-confidence at the same time.
Ski Schools Improve Your Child’S Skiing Ability Faster
Ski schools teach proper technique that is important to the future development of your kids as skiers. Learning appropriate techniques can help prevent injuries and help them become more efficient on the slopes. This means they will be able to ski for more extended periods!
In addition, ski instructors can also give you pointers on how to improve your skiing techniques. This is another excellent way to improve your skills faster and have more fun skiing. Even if your kid is a beginner, ski schools can help make him more quickly, more agile, and coordinated skis.
Ski professionals know that learning is accelerated when they work with other children. By putting all of those kids together under one roof – ski school programs can help improve your child’s skiing ability faster than we ever could alone.
Ski Schools Can Help Prevent Your Child From Becoming Frustrated While Skiing
Skiing is a frustrating sport. One minute you’re going pretty well, and the next thing you know, you’ve lost control of your skis, and now they are heading towards the woods! This can be very discouraging for beginner skiers who just learned to keep their balance, and now they don’t know how to get back on track.
Ski school can prevent this from happening. Instructors can help keep your child’s morale high by providing positive reinforcement throughout the learning process. They will also help when your child becomes frustrated, and this is essential for a positive skiing experience. Inexperienced parents are usually not good at handling their child’s frustration while skiing.
Peer Education Accelerates Performance
It’s no secret that children learn from each other. In this situation, they have the opportunity to do so and be supervised by an experienced instructor. When children are skiing with other kids, they tend to push themselves more challenging to keep up. Therefore, this is a great way to improve their skiing skills and have a lot of fun while doing it.
Competition between kids can also boost their confidence and help them ski better. Ski schools provide a perfect setting for this type of learning – in a safe and controlled environment.
The Main Reason – Freedom!
Bonus reason! I can’t say that this one is beneficial for your kids, but I want to ski by myself or with friends and not have to worry about them. This is a massive benefit for moms and dads who love to ski.
Skiing is fun, but it’s even more relaxing when I don’t have to play taxi driver or monitor the situation every minute. Ski schools provide this kind of freedom which makes them worth every penny! When you add up all of these benefits, it’s easy to see why children’s ski schools are worth every penny.
Not only do they help improve your child’s skiing ability faster, but they also help build confidence, prevent frustration, and provide a fun learning environment.
